Utrecht Centraal illuminated by LineaLightGroup – two patents, one major project – Utrecht Centraal is the main railway station of the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands. It is the largest station of the Netherlands in terms of size, with fourteen platforms and frequented by more than 150,000 passengers per day. From 2008 till today the station underwent a major reconstruction, partly under the flag of the general reconstruction of the Utrecht station area, and partly under the flag of the NS-project Wereldstations.
In this context of change and renovation Linea Light Group was chosen by the Dutch studio Romar LED’s Design Experience for the LED lighting of the station.
For this project, the planner chose LED tubes in IP66 with an internal driver and connected in series. The different patented optics ranging from 30° to 60° to 120° result in a greater ability to manage the flow of light depending on the environments. An ideal product for continuous light lines, even at heights; in fact, the wave ceiling has a height that varies from 12 to 19 meters and Linea Light Group guarantees an average of 150lux on the ground throughout the project. The LED lights installed now have significantly changed the environment, creating useful and aesthetically pleasing waves of light.
